2 moderate earthquakes jolt parts of Visayas
MANILA, Philippines - Two moderate earthquakes rocked parts of the Visayas yesterday and state seismologists warned of possible aftershocks.
The Philippine Institute of Volcanology and Seismology said there were no immediate reports of damage or injuries.
The quakes of magnitudes 5.1 and 4.2 happened at 5:45 a.m. and 5:51 a.m., respectively.
The epicenter of the magnitude 5.1 quake was traced at 34 kilometers southeast of Anini-y, Antique. It was felt at Intensity 4 in Anini-y, San Jose and Tobias Fornier towns in Antique; Iloilo City, Bago City and La Castellana in Negros Occidental.
It was also felt at Intensity 3 in Oton, Iloilo; La Carlota, Negros Occcidental; and Jagna, Bohol; and Intensity 2 in Ajuy, Iloilo.
Meanwhile, the epicenter of the magnitude 4.2 quake was located at 21 kms southeast of Anini-y. It was felt at Intensity 3 in Anini-y and San Jose in Antique, and Iloilo City.
