Magnitude-5.1 quake hits Antique, nearby provinces
MANILA, Philippines - A magnitude-5.1 earthquake jolted Antique and its neighboring provinces early Tuesday.
The Philippine Institute of Volcanology and Seismology (Phivolcs) traced the earthquake at 34 kilometers southeast of Anini-y town in Antique. It was recorded at 5:45 a.m.
The quake, which was tectonic in origin, was felt at Intensity 4 in Anini-y, San Jose and Tobias Fornier in Antique; Iloilo City; and in Bago City and La Castellana in Negros Occidental.
It was felt at Intensity 3 in Oton, Iloilo; La Carlota, Negros Occidental and Jagna, Bohol and Intensity 2 in Ajuy, Iloilo.
Phivolcs has recorded the first aftershock at 5:51 a.m.. It was measured at 4.2 magnitude and felt at Intensity 3 in Anini-y and San Jose towns and in Iloilo City.
The second aftershock was recorded at 6:12 a.m.
