Another village exec falls in drug bust in Tacloban City
MANILA, Philippines - The number of barangay officials who have been nabbed for illegal drugs jumped to five in just two days, after another village executive was busted by the operatives of the Philippine Drug Enforcement Agency (PDEA) in Tacloban City.
The PDEA identified the suspect as Alexander Samson, 44, an incumbent councilor of Barangay 54-A, Magallanes Street, Tacloban City, Leyte.
Belated reports showed that last June 3, around 5:30 p.m., elements of PDEA Regional Office 8 conducted a buy-bust operation at Samson’s neighborhood in Barangay 54-A which resulted in his arrest.
Seized during the operation were a plastic cellophane containing white crystalline substance suspected to be methamphetamine hydrochloride, or shabu, with a street value of P2,000, and the buy-bust money consisting of a P1,000 and two P500 marked bills.
Samson will be charged for violation of Section 5 (Sale of Dangerous Drugs), Article II of Republic Act 9165, or The Comprehensive Dangerous Drugs Act of 2002.
