NGCP trains Vizcaya power co-op
MANILA, Philippines - Consistent with its vision of satisfying stakeholders’ needs, the National Grid Corp. of the Philippines (NGCP) recently granted the request of the Nueva Vizcaya Electric Cooperative Inc. (Nuvelco) for a two-day technical training for its distribution maintenance group.
The recent technical training, which mainly focused on reducing the electric cooperative’s systems loss and ensuring the safety of its line personnel, was attended by 40 Nuvelco linemen tasked to operate and maintain distribution facilities.
NGCP’s engineers from North Luzon shared their knowledge on the general rules on safety during line maintenance, protocol on shutting down and restoration of lines and equipment, electric pole structure design and construction, and compliance with the Philippine Electrical Code.
“We are very thankful for the opportunity to learn the technical aspects from the (transmission line) experts. This training is important for Nuvelco to meet the challenges of its customers and to attain reliable service,†said Nuvelco board president Lopito Lloyd Valdez.
NGCP is a privately owned corporation in charge of operating, maintaining and developing the country’s power grid.
