MANILA, Philippines - Sen. Cynthia Villar, who chairs the Senate committee on government corporations and public enterprises, underscores the need for cooperation between the Governance Commission for Government-Owned and Controlled Corporations (GCG) and the Senate to attain sustainable development and good governance in the government corporate sector. As of the latest count, Villar said there are 116 GOCCs currently being monitored by GCG, which they intend to reduce to 100 through abolition, privatization or merger. Photo shows Villar receiving a plaque of appreciation from Undersecretary Ma. Angela Ignacio as Undersecretary Rainier Butalid holds a bouquet for her.
