Ex-cop slain in Cavite ambush

CAMP VICENTE LIM, Laguna, Philippines – A former member of the Quezon City police was killed while two agents of the Philippine Drug Enforcement Agency were wounded in an ambush by at least six armed men in Bacoor City, Cavite on Monday.

Senior Police Officer 3 Alejandro Ame, formerly of the Novaliches police Station 4, was killed at the scene, while Police Officer 1 Leonard Sagayadero and Alvin Martin were brought to a hospital in Bacoor for treatment of gunshot wounds, said Superintendent Rommel Estolano, Bacoor City police chief.

Ame, who was reportedly on AWOL (absent without official leave) status, was in a Toyota Vios while Sagayadero and Martin in a Toyota Innova when assailants in a white van and motorcycles waylaid them in Barangay Molino 3 at around 3 a.m.

The PDEA team, led by agent Ramiro de Guzman, was reportedly conducting an operation in Barangay Molino when the attack occurred.
