5 killed in Manila fire - report
MANILA, Philippines - Five people were killed after they were trapped inside a burning two-storey building in Manila, before dawn Tuesday.
Quoting one of the residents, a radio report identified the the casualties as Joana dela Cruz, 21; Jamaica dela Cruz, 17; a certain Shane, 21; a certain Junjun, 16; and a certain Tintin.
The report said that the blaze inside the commercial-residential building on Tahimik St., Delpan, Tondo, Manila started around 3 a.m.
A mini-grocery at the second floor of the establishment was also destroyed during the fire, which was put out around 5 a.m.
Arson investigators are still determining the cause and extent of damage of the fire.
