Mike Frialde - The Philippine Star

MANILA, Philippines - A man was killed while at least four others sustained injuries after a 10-wheeler truck loaded with sand crashed into three houses in Taytay, Rizal early yesterday morning.

Police identified the fatality as Domingo Francisco, a resident of Tikling in Barangay Dolores, Taytay town, and those hurt as  John Lester Eustaquio, John Lennon Eustaquio, Eleanor Eustaquio, and John Michael Eustaquio.

Senior Superintendent Bernabe Balba, Rizal police director, said the victims were sleeping when the truck crashed into the row of houses at 4:15 a.m. yesterday.

Balba said the truck was ascending Ortigas Avenue Extension going to Antipolo City when its driver lost control, causing the vehicle to slide backwards and hit the houses.

Balba said his men are tracking down the truck driver who fled after the incident.
