LAGUNA , Philippines – Seven men, including two prime suspects, have been arrested for the gun slaying of an Association of Barangay Captains (ABC) head in a bar in Magdalena town before dawn last Friday.
Key suspects Nathan Cruz and Robert de Jesus and the rest of the group were cornered in their rented apartments in Calamba City and Imus, Cavite on Saturday afternoon, said Senior Superintendent Romulo Sapitula, Laguna police director.
Police withheld the identities of the five other suspects.
Sapitula said the alleged triggerman, a certain Franklin Ramos Manahan, remains at large.
They were tagged by witnesses in the killing of Rogelio Cristey Monzon, 57, Barangay Jacinto chairman and ABC president in Magdalena town, in a bar in Calamba City.
Police said Manahan, Cruz, De Jesus and two companions had got a verbal tussle with Monzon in the bar.
