QC govt to file raps vs owner, engineer of collapsed warehouse

Dennis Carcamo - The Philippine Star

MANILA, Philippines - The Quezon City government is set to file charges against the owner of the warehouse whose wall collapsed Monday night, killing two persons.

The structural engineers of the city's Department of Building Official found out that a wall was constructed on top an existing wall which was not within engineering standards.

The owner of the warehouse, L.G. Atkinson, also extended the construction of the wall which was not included in the building permit approved by the DBO.

The DBO noted that it has only issued a permit for lot 18 but the owner and the engineer in charge of the structure extended the construction to lots 17, 19, 20, and 21 without the necessary documents.

Aside from  negligence, the DBO will also file violation of the National Building Code against the owner and engineer in charge of the construction. The permit previously issued to the owner will also be revoked.
