LTFRB suspends bus firm’s 5 units after Quezon mishap

Janvic Mateo - The Philippine Star

MANILA, Philippines - The Land Transportation Franchising and Regulatory Board (LTFRB) has issued a preventive suspension order against five buses of Raymond Transport following Wednesday’s accident in Quezon province that claimed two lives.

“Right after the accident, we conducted our own investigation to check if the involved bus is roadworthy to operate,” said LTFRB chairman Winston Ginez.

Reports said a Raymond Transport bus collided with a van while en route to Manila along the bypass road in Barangay Lalig, Tiaong, Quezon, killing three-year-old Precious Denise Siruma and 25-year-old Niel Tabuzo and injuring 13 others.

“We decided to suspend other units of Raymond Transport with the same route and have them subjected for thorough inspection,” said Ginez.

The suspension order covered five Raymond Transport buses plying the Caramoan, Camarines Sur-Cubao, Quezon City route.
