Ambulance falls off cliff; 5 hurt

BUTUAN CITY, Philippines – An ambulance owned by the municipal government of Marihatag in Surigao del Sur carrying a patient returning home after confinement at the Butuan Doctor’s Hospital here was in total wreck after plunging into a ravine in San Agustin, Surigao del Sur last Friday night.

A belated police report said five were seriously hurt in the mishap, including the patient herself, Tomasa Canda Robles, 85; Rosemarie Groco Robles, 33; Renato Groco Robles, 30; Rachel Ann Groco Robles, and the ambulance driver, Heliodoro Taasin Avila. Marihatag town is more than 130 kilometers away from this city, the Caraga region’s capital.
