Binay lauds Pangasinan for hosting BSP camp

LINGAYEN, Pangasinan, Philippines – Vice President Jejomar Binay has lauded the provincial government for the successful five-day National Scout Venture Camp held at the capitol beachfront here, affirming the delegates’ impression that the Pangasinan camp was the “best they have ever attended so far.”

Binay, who serves as Boy Scouts of the Philippines (BSP) national president, thanked the provincial government led by Gov. Amado Espino Jr. and the San Carlos City council for hosting the event.

He told the scouters to use “their new skills to become better scouts and help others be better citizens.”

Binay underscored three points in his speech: the brilliance of boy scouts, the “heroism” of volunteers and adult leaders, and success through actions.

He said young scouters have learned to come up with great ideas being honed by their membership in the BSP and through the help of their adult leaders.

Binay commended Espino’s “exemplary leadership,” citing Pangasinan’s achievements under his leadership.

The venture camp gathered together some 3,000 delegates from all over the country.

The scout leaders noted that the environment in Pangasinan “was generally clean, safe, peaceful and orderly,” adding that the province “is a great place to visit because its people are generally friendly, hospitable, warm and cordial and the Lingayen beach is undeniably awesome and breathtaking.”

Espino, BSP regional chairman, thanked the organizers and the BSP officials for choosing Pangasinan as venue of the venture camp.
