Ding Cervantes - The Philippine Star

ANGELES CITY, Philippines – A woman reportedly kidnapped at a public market here last March has been released after her family allegedly paid P10-million ransom.

Police confirmed that the kidnap victim has reunited with her family but had to be brought to an undisclosed hospital as she has considerably lost weight.

The victim is also reportedly experiencing vision problems for having been blindfolded for a long period of time while in the hands of her kidnappers.

Police declined to give details on the case.

The victim was snatched by armed men while she was supervising the unloading of vegetables from a truck from Baguio City at the public market last March, and dragged into a Toyota Innova.

According to a police source, the kidnappers also commandeered the truck but burned it after the victim’s family reportedly failed to pay ransom within the deadline they had given.

Before the kidnapping, a man who allegedly attempted to seize the wife of a prominent physician at the Nepo commercial center here posted bail.

Three weeks before the suspect was arrested, a physician was kidnapped in neighboring Mabalacat City. The victim was released unharmed after a few days as his family allegedly paid P5-million ransom.
