Balanga City’s outstanding citizens feted
BALANGA CITY, Bataan, Philippines– The city government awarded 10 of its citizens for their contributions to the community.
Mayor Jose Enrique Garcia III led the presentation of the Dangal Balangueño award during the 2014 Gabi ng Parangal Para sa mga Natatanging Balangueño at the Crown Royale Hotel here.
Among the awardees were eight men and two women, who excelled in their respective fields and continued to bring reforms in the society.
This year’s awardees were Amelia Anastacio for business, Eusebio Aquino (construction), Virgilio de Leon (fishing), Lorenzo Dilig (farming), Luz Dispo (charity), Judge Remigio Escalada (government service), Norberto Gonzales (overseas work), Ariel Ilaya (medicine), Rolando Rosal (transportation) and Jose Vitanzos Jr. (education).
Rosal, head of tricycle operators and drivers association, expressed surprise for getting the award, noting there is still too many to be done in the field he represents.
He pioneered the Talyer ng Bayan where drivers could have their tricycles repaired at an affordable price.
For his part, Escalada has been helping the inmates of the provincial jail by holding medical and dental missions, and seminars with the support of the Integrated Bar of the Philippines-Bataan chapter.
He is currently serving as judge of the Caloocan regional trial court and assistant executive judge in Bataan.
