Man nabbed for grenade attack in N. Cotabato

NORTH COTABATO, Philippines – Policemen arrested on Friday a man who allegedly set off a fragmentation grenade near a commercial establishment in Kabacan town.

No one was killed or injured in the attack, but the explosion triggered panic among residents in the area.

Superintendent Jordine Maribojo, chief of the Kabacan municipal police, said Abdulhamad Gulam Hamid, 23, did not resist arrest when responding policemen cornered him.

Hamid, who introduced himself as a resident of Palimbang in Sultan Kudarat, set off a fragmentation grenade along USM Avenue.

He was about to leave on a motorcycle when responding policemen and village watchmen arrived and arrested him.
