Noy: Yolanda rehab cost to reach over P100 B only

Aurea Calica - The Philippine Star

MANILA, Philippines - President Aquino said yesterday the cost of rehabilitation after the devastation caused by Super Typhoon Yolanda could be smaller and that many concerns had already been addressed.

“The good news is from… the daunting figure of over P300 billion needed to build back these communities better, we are now talking of slightly over a hundred billion,” said Aquino, who went back to Bohol yesterday to inaugurate a project after the province was hit by an earthquake last year.

But he said the details of the new rehabilitation plan were not yet available as it was still being prepared for his scrutiny.

With the smaller amount, Aquino said the government could carry out rehabilitation efforts faster.
