LPA to bring rains over Samar, Bicol - PAGASA

The Philippine Star

MANILA, Philippines — The low pressure area (LPA) continues to move closer to the country though it is still not expected to dump rains today, the state weather bureau said.

In its latest advisory, the Philippine Atmospheric, Geophysical and Astronomical Services Administration said the LPA was last located at 510 km east of Borongan, Eastern Samar.

PAGASA said the weather system is still far to affect any part of the country.

But by tomorrow, the LPA is expected to bring cloudy skies with light to moderate rains and thunderstorms over Samar provinces and Bicol region.

The seaboard of Eastern Visayas and Bicol region will also be moderate, PAGASA added.

According to PAGASA, the LPA will be named "Ester" if it intensifies into a tropical depression, the fifth cyclone to hit the country this year. - Louis Bacani
