P’sinan mishap leaves 1 dead, 54 hurt

BANI, Pangasinan, Philippines   â€“ A woman died while 54 others, mostly children, were injured when their truck fell on its side in Barangay Centro Toma on Wednesday, police reported yesterday.

The truck driven by Jesus Soriano Jr., 55, was on its way to Surip Beach in Sitio Surip when it developed engine trouble.

Widow Remedios Raymundo was declared dead on arrival at the hospital after she fell off the truck.

The victims were taken to Bolinao Community Hospital in Bolinao town and Western Pangasinan District Hospital in Alaminos City for treatment. Among them was a six-month-old baby identified as Aaron Paul Moreno and 81-year-old Magdalena Tibalao.

Soriano was unhurt in the accident.
