Lawmaker urges youth to do share in progress

MANILA, Philippines - Abakada party-list Rep. Jonathan de la Cruz has called on fresh college graduates to do their share in achieving true and lasting progress, which he said is the greatest challenge currently being faced by the Filipino people.

In his address to the graduating class of the Surigao del Sur State University in Cantilan, Surigao del Sur, De la Cruz asked the youth to come up with their own wish list for the country’s progress and do everything they can to make these dreams come true.

“Be a part of society. Do not be an island unto yourself or your family alone but be a productive member of it. It is the friendships you will form and the commitments you will maintain that will shape your life.

“These choices will carry you through in your journey in the real world. As the late US President John Kennedy said, ‘Ask not what your country can do for you, ask what you can do for your country’,” he said.
