NDRRMC records 12 dead, 96 hurt on Holy Week break
MANILA, Philippines - The National Disaster Risk Reduction and Management Council on Good Friday recorded 12 persons killed and 96 others injured during the Holy Week observance.
In its situation report, the NDRRMC said that as of April 18, it has monitored 13 incidents in Regions 1, 4-A, 4-B, V, VIII, X, and the National Capital Regions.
Of the incidents, eight were vehicular accidents in Santiago, Ilocos Sur; Bani, Pangasinan; Sariaya, Quezon; Maragondon, Cavite; Bacoor, Cavite; Libmanan, Camarines Sur; Gingoog City, Misamis Oriental, the state emergency response agency said.
The NDRRMC also recorded three fire incidents-- one in Quezon City, one in Gingoog, Misamis Oriental and one in Pantar, Lanao del Norte-- a carbon monoxide poisoning in Catbalogan, Samar and a sea mishap in Odiongan, Romblon.
