MANILA, Philippines — A magnitude 5.0 earthquake was recorded 20 kilometers east of Aras-asan town in Surigao del Sur on Tuesday morning.
In an advisory, the United States Geological Survey said that the tectonic earthquake has a depth of 45.6 km.
Its epicenter is also near an acknowledged plate boundary.
State volcanologists, meanwhile, said that the quake had a magnitude of 4.8, moving at Intensity 3 as felt in Tandag town.
Intensity 2 shakes also occurred in San Miguel, Surigao del Sur, the Philippine Institute for Volcanology and Seismology said.
No aftershocks are expected.
