2.7 quake jolts Antique town

MANILA, Philippines - A magnitude 2.7 earthquake struck near Laua-an, Antique yesterday, the Philippine Institute of Volcanology and Seismology (Phivolcs) said.

Phivolcs recorded the tremor at 12:43 a.m. with its epicenter traced some four kilometers southwest of Laua-an town where it was felt at Intensity 3.

The agency said it was not expecting damage or aftershocks from the quake.

Phivolcs describes an Intensity 3 quake as “weak.” 

Meanwhile, a magnitude 2.8 quake was recorded some 15 kilometers northeast of Sablayan, Occidental Mindoro at 10:46 a.m. yesterday, but Phivolcs said it was “unfelt.’
