10 dead in Cebu, Quezon vehicular accidents

CARCAR CITY, Cebu, Philippines   â€“ Seven persons died when a cargo truck hit a concrete wall in Carcar City in Cebu at noon yesterday while a collision between a Jam Transit bus and a dump truck left three passengers dead in Tiaong, Quezon shortly before midnight Wednesday.

The driver of the cargo truck, which was loaded with livestock, reportedly lost control of the wheel, as he was negotiating a downhill road in Barangay Guadalupe, said Senior Superintendent Noel Gillamac, Cebu police director.

The fatalities were identified as Nickson Albite, Wenceslao Pamulagan, Agustin Alcain, Yoyoy Barlaan, Cristita Davin, Daniel Marson and Jovencio Davin.

Gillamac said 25 others were reported injured in the accident.

The injured victims were brought to  the Carcar District Hospital and Vicente Sotto Memorial Medical Center in Cebu City for treatment.

Meanwhile in Tiaong, Quezon, three persons died while 25 others were injured when a Jam passenger bus collided with a dump truck in the village of Lalig.

The bus, with license plate TWZ 661, was heading south when it crashed into a Hyundai dump truck, with license plate UHX 955, at around 11:55 p.m., said Senior Superintendent Ronaldo Genaro Ylagan, Quezon police director.

The impact reportedly caused the bus to roll over.

Ylagan identified the fatalities as Remedios Sangrones, Alyssa Rosanne Singayan and Eden Sangrones.

Remedios and Singayan reportedly died at the scene while Eden died while being treated at the Peter Paul Hospital in the town of Candelaria.

Among the injured victims were bus driver Jovanne Empestan and conductor Emerald Barbas.

The driver of the dump truck identified as Arwin Manalo surrendered to the police after the accident.

In Isabela, businessman Robert Respicio, 49, died while his companion, Mila Larioza, was injured when a passenger bus rammed their sport utility vehicle in Cauayan City yesterday.

Larioza was rushed to the Isabela United Doctors Medical Center for treatment.              

Bus driver Roger Lamasan surrendered to the police after the incident, said Superintendent Mariano Rodriguez, city police chief.

In Rizal, a man also died when he was ran over by a tricycle in Tanay on Wednesday.

The tricycle driver and his six passengers were also hurt in the accident.

Jose Obaob, 71, of Balikatan Village, Barangay Sampaloc, died at the scene due to head and body injuries.

Tricycle driver Jonathan Eino, 48, and his passengers Eugene and Cristina Torres, and couple Wenceslao and Eugenia Samson, and their children Threena Louise, Therryne Frances, and Tricia Nifke were brought to an Army hospital in Camp Capinpin for treatment, said Senior Superintendent Bernabe Balba, Rizal provincial director.
