4.8 quake jolts Occ. Mindoro

MANILA, Philippines - A magnitude 4.8 earthquake shook parts of Occidental Mindoro yesterday, but caused no damage or injuries, the Philippine Institute of Volcanology and Seismology (Phivolcs) said.

Phivolcs said the tremor occurred at 1:18 a.m. with its epicenter traced 15 kilometers southeast of Sablayan town.

It was felt at Intensity 4 in Sablayan and Intensity 3 in Sta. Cruz town.

Phivolcs describes an Intensity 4 quake as “moderately strong,” and Intensity 3 as “weak.”
