Tanza police chief relieved over tabloid reporter's slay
MANILA, Philippines - The Cavite Provincial Police Office has relieved the Tanza chief of police to face administrative sanction over the killing of a female tabloid reporter on Sunday.
Senior Superintendent Joselito Esquibel Jr., Cavite Provincial director, order the relief of Police Superintendent Conrado Villanueva, the Chief of Police of Tanza Police Station whose name was mentioned by a witness.
Esquibel assured Villanueva’s availability to face further investigation as warranted by evidence.
Villanueva is temporarily replaced by Cavite Deputy Provincial Director Police Superintendent Joseph Javier.
Meanwhile, Esquible said a tracker team is now on the trail of a gunman who shot and killed Remate reporter Rubylita Garcia on Sunday in Bacoor, Cavite.
The PNP said police investigators have generated an artist’s sketch of the gunman based on descriptions by a witness to the shooting of Garcia.
Esquibel formed a special investigation task force to lead the probe into the circumstances of the Garcia killing.
Esquibel said the SITG "Ruby" will coordinate all investigative efforts of the Provincial Criminal Investigation Detection Team, Provincial Highway Patrol Team, Regional Intelligence Office, and Scene Of Crime Operations to establish facts that will lead to the early solution of the shooting incident.
Esquibel said a witness described the gunman as more or less 30 years old, six feet in height, of medium built, fair complexion and having tattoos on the arms.
