175 Taiwanese nabbed in Pampanga over credit card scam
MANILA, Philippines - Operatives of the National Bureau of Investigation arrested 175 Taiwanese who were allegedly involved in the production of fake credit cards in Pampanga.
A radio report said that NBI agents raided the five houses inside a subdivision in Angeles City Wednesday night.
The operation of the group is like a call center where the foreigners would call their prospective victims and ask for deposits in exchange for credit cards, the report said.
During the raid, NBI operatives seized from the suspects several phones and laptops believed to be used in their group's illegal operations.
The NBI is now investigating how the foreigners managed to get into the country and operate illegally in the subdivision.
The Taiwanese, detained the NBI regional office, are now facing violation of Republic Act 8484 or Access Devices Regulation Act.
