10 hurt as MRT trains hit emergency brakes
MANILA, Philippines - At least 10 passengers aboard the MRT coming from the Ayala and Magallanes stations in Makati City were hurt after the coaches suddenly stopped at about 11:35 a.m. Wednesday.
Makati police chief, Senior Superintendent Manuel Lukban, said four passengers were rushed to the Makati Medical Center while the rest were treated on-site by responding rescue units.
"Itong mga coaches na galing ng Ayala, Magallanes, at galing ng Pasay-Taft ay nagkaroon ng sabay-sabay na paghinto," said Lukban.
Information relayed to the Makati Police said five passengers were hurt from the train coming from the Ayala Station, four from the Magallanes Station and one from the Pasay-Taft Station.
According to Lukban, a technical problem along the MRT line triggered the emergency brakes on the three separate trains.
The MRT system has been experiencing technical trouble since the last weekend.
