Fisherman missing as boats collide off Parang

MAGUINDANAO, Philippines  – Government rescue teams are searching for a missing Moro fisherman who fell from a boat that collided on Sunday night with another watercraft at the Illana Bay, about five kilometers off Parang town in the province.

The missing Musib Talib, 53, and his spouse, Nora, 50, and their children, Norhata, 6, and Farhana, 13, were on their way to the seaside Parang town from Bongo Island when their small boat collided with a pumpboat in the open sea.

Talib was thrown overboard by the impact of the collision. His wife and two children were hurt in the accident. No one was reported killed or hurt from among the passengers and crew members of the other boat.

The Parang municipal police are still investigating the incident.

Local officials rushed the injured wife and children of Talib to the Cotabato Regional Medical Center in Cotabato City for treatment. - John Unson
