3 quakes jolt North Cotabato

MANILA, Philippines - Three earthquakes hit parts of North Cotabato yesterday morning with the strongest registering a magnitude of 4.5, the Philippine Institute of Volcanology and Seismology (Phivolcs) said.

Phivolcs said the magnitude 4.5 tremor was recorded at 9:17 a.m. yesterday with its epicenter traced some six kilometers northwest of Carmen, North Cotabato.

It was felt at Intensity 4 in Carmen, Intensity 3 in Kabacan and Midsayap towns, Intensity 2 in Pikit town, and Intensity 1 in Kidapawan City.

Two other quakes, which both registered a magnitude of 3.3, struck some eight km northeast of Carmen and nine km northwest of Carmen at 9:40 a.m. and 10:04 a.m., respectively. They were both felt in Carmen at Intensity 2 and 3.
