Zambo airport cops seize CPU with dismantled rifle

ZAMBOANGA CITY - Airport policemen on Tuesday seized a dismantled M-16 rifle hidden in a computer's CPU being smuggled through the Zamboanga International Airport, an official said Wednesday.

Inspector Jose Krispher Abas, chief of the 9th Aviation Security Group's (AVG) intelligence unit, said the rifle was discovered at the predeparture area of the airport at around 4 p.m. on Tuesday.

The CPU was supposed to be flown to Bongao town in Tawi-Tawi during the same day. It was shipped by a certain Anuar Batus of Pasig City and consigned to a certain Mega Jalon of Bongao town through a commercial forwarding company.

Police said they investigating the backgrounds of Batus and Jalon.
