ZAMBOANGA CITY, Philippines - - A speeding motorcycle crashed from a highway curve, killing its driver after sending it flying into a deep well on the roadside while his backrider was seriously injured along the highway east of this city, according to police Tuesday.
Police Senior Inspector Noel Lozano, police commander of Station 3 in Barangay Sangali, identified the fatality as Ronnel Salazar, 26, while his injured backrider was Raffy Bucis, both residents of the village of Bolong.
Investigation disclosed that the two victims were on the motorcycle with plate number JR 1762 from Sangali and on their way home to Barangay Bolong when Salazar lost control of the steering bar while negotiating the curve highway about 11 p.m. Sunday.
The police said the motorcycle with its riders overshot sending Salazarflying straight into a deep well and subsequently died. His backrider was rushed to the hospital for treatment of injuries. - Roel Pareño
