Raymund Catindig - The Philippine Star

TUGUEGARAO CITY, Philippines - – A former village chairman was killed while his wife was seriously wounded in an ambush by unidentified armed men in Cabagan, Isabela Sunday.

Jody Baccay, 34, and his wife, Concepcion, 38, a teacher, were walking in Barangay San Bernardo when men armed with an M16 Armalite rifle opened fire at them, said town police chief Chief Inspector Edwin Calubaquib.

Baccay was killed at the scene while his wife was taken to the St. Paul Hospital in this city for treatment, Calubaquib said.

Records showed the parents of Baccay were also killed in an ambush several years ago. Police are looking at land dispute as possible motive for the killing.
