Bacolod mishap leaves 1 dead, 7 injured

BACOLOD CITY, Philippines  â€“ A man died while seven members of a family were injured when their vehicles collided in Barangay Mansilingan in this city at dawn Sunday.

Mark Anthony Dianonco of Kabankalan City was declared dead on arrival at the hospital, said Police Officer 3 David Matias.

Among the injured were Julie Bernalde, 51; his wife, Lora, 43; their children Jason, 16; Joshua, 15; Frank, 14; Frankie, 10, and their relative, Dara Britanico, 18, all of Barangay Minoyan, Murcia, Negros Occidental.

Reports said the Mitsubishi Lancer, driven by Dianonco collided with the Nissan Patrol of Bernalde, who was reportedly in serious condition as of press time.

Meanwhile, a motorcycle driven by a certain Christine Villarino hit the two vehicles even before traffic enforcers could cordon off the accident site.

Villarino suffered a fractured arm from the incident.
