Laguna barangay exec shot

BIÑAN CITY, Philippines - – Eight days after a police officer was killed here, a barangay councilman was in critical condition when motorcycle-riding men shot him yesterday morning, authorities said.

Jesus Lacson, a councilman of Barangay Platero, was in an eatery when two men arrived and shot him at close range at 10:35 a.m. yesterday and then fled on a motorcycle toward San Pedro town.

Police were still clueless on the attack.

Last March 1, Senior Inspector Jerry Uy was killed while his daughter was wounded in an ambush by motorcycle-riding men in this city.

Police are still hunting down the two suspects, identified as Ricky Alano Sison and Mark Jim Gonzales.

Charges of frustrated murder and murder were filed against them last Thursday.
