Protesters storm DSWD main office in QC

Dennis Carcamo - The Philippine Star

MANILA, Philippines - Members of the militant groups, including women's organization Gabriela, stormed on Monday the main office of the Department of Social Work and Development in Quezon City.

The protesters forced their way into the DSWD compound in Batasan road, Quezon City around 10 a.m.

The militants were protesting the slow paced distribution of relief assistance to victims of supertyphoon Yolanda more than 100 days after the calamity.

Tension rose after protesters destroyed one of the glass panels of the DSWD office.

Responding policemen managed to drive out the protesters outside the office to the DSWD compound where they held a small program.

Meanwhile, Gabriela members will also proceed to the main office of the National Food Administration on North Avenue, Quezon City around 11:30 a.m. to protest the continuous increase of the price of rice.
