3 cops hurt in NPA ambush

BUTUAN CITY, Philippines – New People’s Army (NPA) guerrillas ambushed a convoy of policemen and Department of Environment and Natural Resources personnel on their way supposedly to confiscate illegally cut logs along the national highway in Barobo, Surigao del Sur on Thursday afternoon, leaving three law enforcers critically wounded. 

The ambush site in San Vicente, Barobo town is about 120 kilometers away from this city, the Caraga regional center.

Police identified the three seriously wounded as PO2 Arwin Flores de la Cruz, who was hit in the upper right arm; and PO2 Alejandrino Muyco Intas and PO1 Mark Sherwin Mercado Castrodez, both in the right leg.
