MALOLOS CITY, Philippines – Sorrow grips the family of an 11-year-old boy here who was stabbed 46 times allegedly by his 16-year-old buddy.
Police said the body of the victim, a Grade 5 pupil at an elementary school here, was found in a vacant lot behind his house in a village here.
The suspect, whose name was withheld as he’s a minor, was placed under the custody of the Department of Social Welfare and Development after he was arrested last Monday morning. He was charged later that day.
Superintendent David Poklay, city police chief, said the victim went missing last Sunday night. That afternoon, he was last seen playing video games with the 16-year-old boy.
The victim’s relatives suspect that the killing could have stemmed from a dispute over a social networking site, as the victim allegedly hacked the suspect’s account. – With Ric Sapnu
