PNoy: Uprising in Edsa not only in MM but in entire Phl

MANILA, Philippines - President Benigno Aquino III on Tuesday said that the uprising of the Filipino people did not only happen in Edsa but in the entire country.

In a press conference after the celebration of 28th anniversary of the Edsa People Power 1 in Cebu City, President Aquino said it is high time to acknowledge the contribution of Filipinos in other places of the country.

The President also belittled claims of some quarters that he tried to "revise history" by holding the commemoration in Cebu and not in Edsa in Metro Manila.

So I guess I want to highlight, partly one of the reasons I want to highlight, na hindi Maynila lang, hindi NCR lang.

He also noted that all the key players in the historic event have been invited to the celebration in Cebu.

"Now yung lahat ng mga key players naimbita...ako 12 years old nung Martial Law prinoklama. Fifty four (years old) na ako ngayon. Pagkakaintindi ko inimbita lahat," he said.

The President  added that although some of the key personalities were not present in Cebu, they have participated in some events to celebrate the day the People Power revolution.

So may partisipasyon sya in some other commemorative activities with regard to the Edsa commemoration," he said.

Former President Fidel Ramos and Senator Juan Ponce Enrile, who were instrumental in the ouster of the late strongman Ferdinand Marcos, were not present in the people power celebration in Cebu City.
