BACOLOD CITY, Philippines   â€“ Two men were arrested for allegedly cloning the modems of Globe Telecommunications in an entrapment operation in this city recently.

Jarryd Nielsen Villaflor, 23, of Barangay Sum-ag, and Michael Ken Ledesma, 34, of Pontevedra town, reportedly yielded P10,500 marked money they received for selling cloned modems and unlimited Internet connectivity to undercover agents of the Criminal Investigation and Detection Group.

They face charges for violating Republic Act 8484 or the Access Devices Regulation Act.

In a complaint, Globe said the hacking resulted in revenue losses for the company and the government. The company said the suspects’ illegal activity caused slow Internet connection for legitimate consumers.

Police officers recovered from the suspects several cloned modems and other items they reportedly used in their activities.
