Celso Amo, Cecille Suerte Felipe - The Philippine Star

LEGAZPI CITY, Philippines  â€“ The Land Transportation Franchising and Regulatory Board (LTFRB) in Bicol has suspended for 30 days the franchises of the Antonina and Elavil bus firms due to an accident that left five persons dead and 46 others injured in Camarines Sur on Sunday.

Lawyer Marcelo Salud, LTFRB Bicol regional director, said the suspension will remain pending results of a probe of the vehicular accident that occurred in Barangay Mambuo Nuevo, Libmanan town at about 12:20 a.m.

Salud said an unofficial report said the driver of the Antonina bus with license plate EVP-923 lost control of the wheel, causing the vehicle to hit an Elavil bus with license plate TYL-144.

The Antonina bus firm has five units while Elavil has 10.
