3 dead from hacking in NCotabato town

NORTH COTABATO, Philippines --- Three men were killed while another was seriously wounded in a hacking frenzy sparked by a minor altercation in Arakan town in the province on Thursday, police said.

Senior Inspector Rolly Oranza, chief of the Arakan municipal police, identified the fatalities as siblings Roger and Raul Mansugod, and Alvin Onsoran, who died from hack wounds in different parts of their bodies.

The victims were drinking alcohol when the drunken Onsoran started a fight, took out a machete and attacked the Mansugods.

One of the Mansugods managed to retaliate and stab the suspect with a knife in the chest and abdomen before succumbing to his wounds.

A companion of the slain drinking buddies, Marlon Ambag, who was wounded in the incident, was rushed to a hospital for medication.
