MANILA, Philippines - One person was killed and at least 20 others were injured Wednesday night after a pickup truck fell on its side while speeding along the Manila-Cavite expressway in Las Pinas City.
Radio reports said the pickup up truck (SFY-198), driven by Francisco Jiorgio Jr., was travelling along the southbound lane of the Cavitex around 8 p.m. when around 20 people blocked their path and boarded on the back of the vehicle.
The group was reportedly passengers of a bus which was involved in an earlier accident.
While cruising along Cavitex, the pickup truck suddenly tilted and fell on its side, reports said.
Jiorgio and his companion, Randy Reyes, both employees of the Department of Public Works and Highways, were also hurt during the accident.
Reports said nine of the victims were rushed to the Dominic Hospital while five others were brought to the Las Pinas General Hospital.
