Baguio expects over a million tourists during Panagbenga parade

The Philippine Star

MANILA, Philippines – Baguio City has gained a weekly average of 100,000 tourists after the traditional Panagbenga Festival officially kicked off last February 1.

The government-run Philippine News Agency (PNA) reported this on Wednesday, citing figures from the Baguio Tourism Office.

According to the report,  city tourism officer Benny Alhambra said the number of tourists during the festival highlights from February 22 to 23 could swell to over a million with the weekly visitor arrival trend in the city.

The street dancing and floral float parade scheduled on these days are among the main features of the festival, which has become one of the biggest tourism events in the Cordillera Administrative Region.

The city has been preparing for the heavy traffic and overcrowding.

According to Alhambra, almost all the hotel rooms have been reserved already. - Louis Bacani
