Batangas cop accused of raping inmate

BATANGAS, Philippines   â€“ A policeman was arrested for allegedly raping a female inmate in the Lipa City police station early Saturday morning, officials said.

Senior Superintendent Omega Jireh Fidel, Batangas police director, said the suspect, PO2 Macario Solis, 34, allegedly entered the cell of the 27-year-old inmate, who is facing drug charges, at 2:30 a.m. and molested her.

Superintendent Jacinto Malinao, Lipa police chief, said a rape case will be filed against Solis today.

The inmate recounted her ordeal to her mother, who in turn complained to the police.
