FORT DEL PILAR, Baguio City  – Former Senator and Presidential Assistant for Rehabilitation and Recovery Panfilo Lacson will be the guest of honor and speaker during the annual Philippine Military Academy homecoming on February 15.

Lacson, who himself comes from PMA class of 1971 (Matatag), was picked by the Philippine Military Academy Alumni Association (PMAAA Inc.) for this year’s coming together of thousands of alumni, either still in the active military and police service, already retired and in the private sector.

Other prominent “mistahs” of Lacson include Sen. Gregorio Honasan, then the “PMA Baron”, who together with other members  who were described in their class’ official website as: “few brave members of their class had to sacrifice their military career to change the political landscape of the country (including) Colonel (Ret) Eduardo Kapunan, Colonel (Ret) Tito Legaspi, Colonel (Ret) Rafael Galvez, and Colonel (Ret) Melchor Acosta.”

The same website added: “These were the men who could have been top generals of the class. The initial result of the approach was very encouraging, as people treated them as heroes of the February Revolution in 1986, but eventually became sour when people’s perception turned negative. The class reputation suffered.”

Other prominent “mistahs” of Lacson are: former PNP Chief
Edgard Aglipay who retired in 2003, former PNP Directors Virtus Gil, Reynaldo Velasco, Carlos Garcia, Vic Batac and former Army chief Lt. Gen Romeo Dominguez.

The PMA alumni homecoming starts on February 13,  kicking off with an Eco-trail run and Battle of the Classes Golf tournament.

On Valentine's Day (February 14), the PMA will inaugurate its ground development and a classroom adopted by PMA Class  of 1988 and another classroom donated by PMA Foundation Inc. followed by a “Wreath Laying Ceremony” at the Alumni Memorial at 04:45 p.m.

Aside from the grand alumni parade on the morning of February 15,  a “Testimonial Parade” will be held at 4 o’ clock in the afternoon to honor and bid goodbye to  PMA Superintendent Vice Admiral Edgar Abogado who is retiring.

On February 16, a football tournament “PMA Canteen Cup” is slated while PMA “Cavaliers” and their families will once again be on the memory lane with a “Silent Drill Exhibition” at 10 a.m.
