11 Taguig schools get dental equipment
MANILA, Philippines - The Taguig City government, in coordination with the Department of Education Taguig-Pateros division (DepEd-TaPat), has started distributing dental chairs and equipment to 11 of the city’s public schools in celebration of the 9th National Dental Health Month.
Dubbed as “Project D.I.M.P.L.E†(Dental Improvement and Medical Program for Local Education), is the first of its kind in the regular public school setting where students can now avail of free dental services.
“With this project, students will no longer flock to local health centers to avail of dental check-ups and other dental services. This will also encourage them to develop a habit of good oral hygiene at a young age,†Taguig Mayor Lani Cayetano said.
Cayetano said the schools will initially receive dental chairs, including other dental equipment, to provide minimum dental services in the school level.
Recieving the dental facilities are Signal Village National High School, Senator Renato “Compañero†Cayetano Memorial Science and Technology High School, Western Bicutan National High School, Gen. R. Papa High School, Upper Bicutan National High School, Bagumbayan National High School, Taguig National High School, Taguig Science High School, Taguig Elementary School, Bagong Tanyag Elementary School-Main and Tenement Elementary School.
Project DIMPLE is part of Mayor Lani’s efforts to bring basic health services closer to Taguig constituents. The remaining 23 public schools will also receive dental facilities in the second phase of the project’s implementation.
