6 killed as tricycle collides with dump truck
NORTH COTABATO, Philippines – Six persons were killed while another was injured when a dump truck collided with a tricycle in Pikit town over the weekend, police said yesterday.
The six fatalities were passengers of the tricycle heading for a hospital in the town proper, said Inspector Mautin Pangandingan, chief of the Pikit police.
“The tricycle overtook a vehicle and it crashed into a dump truck coming from the opposite lane,†said Pangan-dingan, who identified the victims as Ibrahim, Mia, and Rakma, all surnamed Cassanova; and Tayan Sakalia, Abdil Kamid and Bagih Alimudin.
Another passenger, identified as Rahima, was rushed to the hospital where she was reportedly listed in critical condition.
The driver of the dump truck and his helper escaped after the accident.
