NBI: Condo unit owner no direct dealings with Deniece

Dennis Carcamo - The Philippine Star

MANILA, Philippines - The owner of the condominium unit where TV host Vhong Navarro was reportedly mauled on Monday said she has no direct business transaction with Deniece Cornejo, the alleged rape victim of Navarro.

Soledad Ramos, along with her legal counsel, Jonas Castro, went to the National Bureau of Investigation-National Capital Region office in Manila, and gave her testimony on how Cornejo was able to rent the unit at Forbeswoods Heights condo at Bonifacion Global City, Taguig.

NBI investigators said Ramos only leased the unit to a certain Gregory, who then endorsed Cornejo as a guest to the building administrator.

Ramos only allowed Cornejo to use the unit for two months, starting Jan. 15, the NBI probers said.

NBI investigators said Ramos has yet to file a formal affidavit on the matter.

"As of now, hindi na nakakapunta si Deniece dun sa unit. Wala na sya access dun after yung insidente," an NBI prober said.

On the night of Jan. 22, Navarro claimed he was invited by Cornejo to her unit at the 2nd floor of the condo.

When he arrived at the place, Cornejo went out of the unit where two men reportedly lunged at him. The men then blindfolded, tied Navarro's hands behind his back, and started to beat him up.

Navarro said those who entered  the room and joined the two men were businessman Cedric Lee, Lee's sister, Bernice and three others.

Cornejo, on the other hand, alleged that Navarro was raping her when the Lee and his group arrived at the place.

Navarro has filed a criminal case against Cornejo and Lee's group at the Department of Justice while Cornejo lodged a rape case at the Taguig Prosecutors' Office against the TV host.
