23 P’sinan towns to have 11-hour power outage tomorrow

Eva Visperas - The Philippine Star

DAGUPAN CITY , Philippines   â€“ Twenty-three towns in Pangasinan, including Urdaneta City, will experience an 11-hour power outage tomorrow, from 7 a.m. to 6 p.m., according to the National Grid Corp. of the Philippines (NGCP).

The scheduled power interruption will affect the towns of Alcala, Asingan, Balungao, Basista, Bautista, Bayambang, Binalonan, Laoac, Malasique, Mangaldan, Mapandan, Natividad, Pozorrubio, Rosales, San Manuel, San Nicolas, San Quintin, Sta. Maria, Sto. Tomas, Tayug, Umingan, Villasis, and parts of Sison.

Lilibeth Gaydowen, NGCP’s corporate communication and public affairs officer for North Luzon, said the Central Pangasinan Electric Cooperative (Cenpelco) and Pangasinan Electric Cooperative (Panelco) 3 will hold an annual preventive maintenance and testing of power transformer and associated equipment at the San Manuel substation.

Regular line maintenance along the San Manuel-Umingan and San Manuel-San Jacinto 69-kilovolt (kV) line will also be conducted simultaneous with Panelco 3’s maintenance and testing of its instrument transformers, she said.

Gaydowen said Cenpelco and Panelco 3 were the ones which identified the areas to be affected by the power interruption based on their maintenance needs.

“The utility allots the available power within its franchise area and implements the power interruption schedule among the end-users,” she said.

A momentary power interruption will also occur in the towns of Manaoag, San Fabian and San Jacinto tomorrow, from 7 a.m. to 7:30 a.m. and 5:30 p.m. to 6 p.m., to facilitate the shifting of power source.

The NGCP advised its customers and the general public to take the necessary preparations and precautions as a result of the power interruptions.
